Much of our work involves research in fragile states, specialising in particularly challenging research briefs.

These include:

1. Geographical – difficult to access parts of the world.
2. Societal – difficult to access segments of society.
3. Attitudinal – segments where engaging in dialogue is difficult.

Special projects was set up in 2002 to undertake research in conflict areas of the world. Having established a far-reaching network of trusted associates, we have been able to offer a full range of research services (quantitative, qualitative and communications consultancy) in some of the most challenging areas of the world.

Types of research
The experience of i to i special projects covers three different types of research:

1. Formative     2. Diagnostic     3. Evaluative

Formative research feeds into the development of the project or programme strategy and often serves as a foundation for the latter. Work of this nature often draws upon qualitative research techniques such as focus group discussions or one-on-one depth interviews.

Whereas formative research is concerned first and foremost with unlocking insights that can be utilised to challenge, if not change, attitudes and perceptions, diagnostic research employs quantitative methodology to provide an overview of existing attitudes and perceptions.

Evaluative research, the roots of i to i research, is concerned with project or programme value for money and effectiveness in the dual sense of both its impact and influence on a given audience.
